Vidya is the story of an un-educated woman who resumes the role of an English school-teacher in a village located in Bihar. The show subtly focuses on the education system prevalent in the interiors of Indian society; her trials and tribulations, not only related to the circumstances behind her teaching in a school despite being uneducated, but also revolving around the wrongdoers who take this education system for a ride for their own benefit.
Vidya, a young and uneducated village girl, is married off at the tender age of 16. But after the sad demise of her husband, she is mistreated by her in-laws and forced to take up a job to contribute to the family’s dwindling income. Since her late husband is a government employee, she has the rights to acquire a job, but what happens when she clinches a job as an English teacher in the local school? Will the uneducated Vidya, be able to live this sham for long? And what happens when she finds a friend and confidante in the well-educated Vivek?
